These are collaborative drawings created during a workshop at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during the International Drawing & Cognition Research 2013 Symposium. I found it truly inspirational to explore materials and mark making with a group of people (most of whom I did not know.) I was transported by the energy of bodies moving, marking and shifting around the table from seat to seat and tool to tool. What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is yours. Where does my mark end and yours begin? How do they combine, overlap or compete? Some people began by doing what they know or feel comfortable with, but were soon carried by the energy of the moment and began experimenting and making new kinds of marks. I would love to know if it influenced their drawing practice as it has mine.
