Meet Pattie Belle (PB)

Design Thinking.
Creative Leadership.
Technology Detox.

Let’s Talk!

I help humans do their best work again, without throwing their phones into the ocean.

Hello, lovely people. I’m Pattie Belle Hastings, but you can call me PB. I’m a speaker and workshop facilitator for creative leaders, teams, and organizations who want to solve wicked problems in a fraction of the time, while building next-level camaraderie, collaboration, and momentum.

These days, I’m also known for something a little… rebellious: helping smart, capable people reclaim their attention in a world that’s designed to steal it.

About Me

My origin story (with receipts)

My journey began with a BFA and an MFA in Visual Art + Design. Those degrees are more than fancy pieces of paper. They’re the foundation of my lifelong devotion to creativity, craft, and human-centered problem solving. Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to receive national and international grants and awards for my art and design work.

Then came the plot twist: I became a Fulbright Scholar in Oslo, Norway, diving into design research focused on mobile devices (yes, I’ve been studying this relationship for a long time). I was also blessed with the rare opportunity to attend the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, which left a permanent imprint on how I think about humanity, systems, and what we choose to build.

What I do now

I founded Mindful Marks, my creative consulting firm, to bring the best of design, facilitation, and behavior change into rooms where it actually matters. I lead:

  • Keynotes + workshops for leaders, teams, and organizations

  • Design Thinking + Design Sprint experiences that move people from stuck → aligned → building

  • Technology Detox programs that help people regain focus, reduce digital fatigue, and create healthier boundaries (without going off-grid)

The work behind the work:
Technology Detox

If you’ve felt like your attention span is getting “chopped into confetti” by notifications, infinite scroll, and information glut… you’re not imagining it.

My Technology Detox work is a highly engaging, research-backed, practical experience that blends science, storytelling, interactive exercises, and mindfulness tools to create an immediate shift in awareness and action.

I teach a simple, memorable framework called U.N.P.L.U.G., where participants learn to:

  • Understand what’s keeping them hooked

  • Notice patterns that don’t serve them

  • Plan realistic boundaries

  • Let go of FOMO (hello, JOMO)

  • Use offline alternatives (creativity and deep work return here)

  • Generate support and accountability for lasting change

I call it a creative rehab for the digital distraction epidemic, because the goal isn’t “no tech.” The goal is tech as a tool, not a takeover.

How I roll
(aka: what it’s like to work with me)

My facilitation style is structured, playful, and deeply human. Expect:

  • Clarity with warmth (we’ll name what’s real, without shame or judgment)

  • High-participation design (no one gets trapped in a 90-minute slide coma)

  • Practical outcomes you can use immediately

  • Laughter as a strategy (there’s never a creative event without it)

A few more fun facts
(because we’re not robots)

I’m an educator and lifelong learner who’s constantly stacking skills such as Design Thinking, Design Sprints, transformational workshop design, NVC, NLP, visual facilitation, leadership coaching… and more. Basically, if it helps humans communicate better, create smarter, and suffer less, I’m interested.

If you’re here, you’re probably here for a reason

If you want a team that collaborates better, thinks more clearly, and makes progress faster, I can help.

If you want to protect your attention, reclaim your time, and feel like yourself again, I can help with that, too.
